We will depart from the Malaga's Port or Hotel to the beautiful village of Montilla, among vineyards, olive groves and centuries of history. Famous for its wines and olive oils, to walk through the streets and white houses of Montilla is to submerge yourself in a past of splendour, as can be seen by the numerous palaces, churches, hermitages, convents and castles in the town, most of which were built between the XVI and XVII centuries. The best way to get to know Montilla is to stroll through the historic centre of the town and let your feet take you wherever you feel like going. Montilla is home to the Wine Fair of Andalusia. Montilla is a lively, happy town of wine cellars and parks. It also has an Olive Oil Museum where you will be able to find out this product which is so important to the region. Architectural treasures, unforgettable corners and numerous interesting walks await you in Montilla.
W will have a guided tour to the Oil mill and Juan Colin Museum of the Oil. Familiar type of Oil mill you can see where the olive trees grow and the actual olive oil mill and they will explain the extraction system of the Extra Virgin Olive oil. This visit will finish in a small Museum, where a previous oil mill is exhibited and also another one previous to the Industrial Revolution.
After that, we will have some spare time for having lunch.
Then, we will enjoy a guided tour to the Alvear wineries. Third oldest winery in Spain and the oldest one of Andalusia; during the visit they will explain all of the wine production system of the Montilla – Moriles area, visiting the areas of winepress, fermentation, crianza wine cellar and bottled warehouse. At the end of the visit there will be a tasting of three types of wines, accompanied by bread “picos” and olives of the zone.
