We will depart to Agüimes, a historic town of beautiful landscapes and a huge wealth of crafts and folklore. The surrounding area has wonderful natural scenery, such as the protected area of Agüimes mountain, where you will find Morro del Cuervo, an archaeological site which displays examples of cave painting. In town stands the church of San Sebastián, declared to be Historic-Artistic Heritage and which contains work by local artists such as Luján Pérez del Moro.Other places of interest in the area are the buildings of Temisas, with its hermitage of San Miguel from the 18th century,
We´ll go to Guayadeque, an interesting place of cave dwellings, and the petroglyphs of Balos, one of the most important series of aboriginal rock carvings on the archipelago. Here we´ll go to eat "tapas" at the Restaurante Tagoror", located at the Montaña de Las Tierras (upper side of the Guayadeque Valley), is by itself one of the tourist landmarks of Gran Canaria.
This original Restaurant was built in a huge cave inside the Montaña de Las Tierras, a colossal work made by the locals during many years. It impresses for its size and also for its harmony with the surrounding environment.
From here we will go to Telde, sitting on a fertile plain.
This flat stretch of farmland, known as the 'great plain', is heavily cultivated, the main crops being sugar cane, bananas, cucumbers and flowers.
A stroll around the town centre of Telde reveals austere neighbourhoods with historic houses which in years gone by were inhabited by Franciscan monks. The areas of San Juan and San Francisco contain numerous works of art and interesting buildings such as the church of San Pedro Mártir. In the basilica of San Juan Bautista, you can admire the high reredos and the Christ of Telde, created by the Michoacán Indians (Mexico). Another religious building which is worth visiting is the church of La Concepción, which dates from the 19th century.
Return to the Port or Hotel.
