This excursion has its high point with the visit to Agaete, the Northern Coast of Gran Canary.
Agaete is placed to the northwest of the island of Great Canary, to 30 kilometers of the capital. Inside the municipal area stand out Agaete's historical hull, the port of the Snow on the banks of the Atlantic Ocean, and The Berrazales placed in the mountain and with exuberant vegetation.
The 9 Km. long Agaete Valley behind the town ends below the Tamadaba massif whose mountains give shelter to the luxuriant tropical vegetation that grows in the valley; mangos, papaya and coffee grow there, together with oranges and other Mediterranean fruit trees.
From the Puerto de las Nieves the steep, rugged coastline is starkly beautiful with the monolithic Dedo de Dios standing guard over the bay.
It is a rock of basaltic stone that gets up in the geological zone more ancient of Great Canary, which started being formed does 14 million years. But it was not until approximately 300.000 years ago when the rock remained isolated of the cliff due to the movement of the whole coastal band for the erosive action exercised by the sea during million years. The same erosion is the one that has been molding, capricious, the physiognomy of the rock that took in a beginning Roque Partido's name, but that in the collective memory is associated with that of God's Finger.
The small chapel, Ermita de las Nieves, has an attractive 15th Century Flemish altar-piece. In a nice part of Agaete you will find the lovely Restaurant Casa Romantica where you will experience a tasty meal.
Afterwards you can visit the restaurants gardens.
Return to the Port or Hotel.
