Sitges, the mediterranean jewel & visit to Codorniu wineries with tasting

Itinerary:

SITGES

We will depart to Sant Sadurní D´anoia, where we will visit The Codorniu Winery. The imposing Codorníu winery buildings in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia were constructed between the end of the 19TH century and the beginning of the 20th (1895-1915). They were declared a Monument of Historical and Artistic Interest in 1976 and represent one of the most outstanding examples of winery architecture designed specifically for the production and ageing of cava. The winery is not only an impressive architectural complex – it continues to be the neuralgic centre, and indeed symbol, of Codorníu’s tradition and values. Codorníu is the story of a wine-producing family that dates back to the 16th century. It is the story, therefore, of a region and its progress, of the people of an area, of their creative and innovative ability, and their talent for constant improvement.  In 1872, Josep Raventós Fatjó – pioneer of the cava industry – produced his first bottle of cava by applying the traditional method to a blend of classic Penedès varieties. After the visit, we will taste three different products.

We will depart to Sitges, called the jewel on the Mediterranean. The village has many faces, modern and traditional, cosmopolitan and historical: Spanish folklore alongside international charm. Sitges, once a fishing village situated in an open bay with a coastline stretching over four kilometres, is located in a breathtaking landscape surrounded by the nature reserve "El Garraf". The rich cultural life, the busy festive calendar and the first rate tourist facilities are just some of the reasons why Sitges has earned international prestige. Sitges is the venue for such major cultural events as the Sitges International Film Festival, the International Theatre Festival, the spectacular Carnival, the Antique Car Rally and the famous "Fiesta Mayor". There are several museums and many art galleries featuring work by local and internationally renowned artists.   You surely know, that Sitges is the place to be for gays on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, a friendly open atmosphere in the village and in the bars. There are several exclusively gay beaches including nude beaches. Bars and discos are in abundance catering to every lifestyle and taste. Several gay owned and staffed restaurants feature fine cuisine and a charming atmosphere. Men from all over Europe and the United States flock to Sitges to enjoy the sun, fun, and nightlife. Our guide will show you everything of this unique village. Enjoy it!

We will have some spare time.

Return to the Port or Hotel.
